28/2/2014 0 Comments Ethekwini MunicipalityThe Ethekwini Municipality Community Participation and Action Support Unit, together with Andile Majola held a Nations Prayer at the Curries Fountain Sports Development Centre on Saturday 1 March 2014. The event was a family orientated prayer which encompassed a prayer ahead of the elections this year, as well as for people to be safe on the roads during the Easter period. Pastor Andile Majola conducted the prayer services, which was attended by 3500 people. Spectators were also entertained by gospel and traditional music singers. The event concluded at 5 pm.

25/2/2014 1 Comment EDUCATION ALLIANCE PROGRAMMEOn Friday 7 February 2014 the South African Democratic Teachers Union held an Education Alliance Programme at the Curries Fountain Sports Development Centre. The event was held in conjunction with NEHAWU, POPCRU, SAMWU, COSAS and SASCO. The aim of the programme was to assist school leavers and those who are experiencing problems with funding to attend a tertiary institution. Minister of Higher Education, Blade Nzimande was in attendance and encouraged the youth in his speech. Also in attendance was Melusi Gigaba, Minister of Public Enterprise, who emphasised the importance of education to the youth. There were approximately 5000 people from the Ethekwini region who attended the programme. The programme was free to the public and open to anyone looking for assistance.
21/2/2014 0 Comments DamelinHarsh weather could not damper the spirit of students and staff of Damelin City Campus kick-off to the semester in 2014. The campus held their fun-filled Orientation Day on Friday 22 February 2014 at the Curries Fountain Sports Development Centre. Students were entertained with inflatable obstacle courses, which were made even more difficult with the presence of the rain. The Orientation Day was attended by about 300 students of the Durban campus who enjoyed themselves and would not let weather deter them. Let’s hope this perseverance continues throughout the academic year.
15/2/2014 0 Comments National freedom partyOn Sunday 16 February 2014 the National Freedom Party held the Launch of their Manifesto and the Celebration of their 3rd Anniversary since of the birth of the party, at the Curries Fountain Sports Development Centre sportsfield. The launch comes ahead of the 2014 elections. The Curries Fountain stands were filled to capacity with supporters attending the launch. The event was open to the public and entrance was free. People arrived in buses and were entertained by gospel and maskandi music. Party leader, Zanele Magwaza Msibi said that the party’s election list have people with strong community and leadership backgrounds.
