6/12/2019 0 Comments 2019 CURRIES FOUNTAIN SPORTS DEVELOPMENT CENTRE ELDERLY LADIES WELLNESS AND SOCCER PROGRAMME A HUGE SUCCESSThis year the Programme accommodated 19 teams with two Streams involving over 60 years ladies and one Stream in the age group of 49 years to 59 years. The programme was organized over 7 months and took place at the Curries Fountain Sports Development Centre sportsfield.
This programme commenced during 2018 with 9 teams. The final programme was held on Wednesday, 20th November 2019 with the awarding of floating trophies and medals. All 380 players and team officials received medals for participation. The winners and runners up in each Stream were awarded with floating trophies. The Premier Stream winners were Umlazi Senior Citizens Football Club and the runners up were Umlazi Golden Ladies Football Club. In the Super Stream Mgabadeli Gogos United Football Club were the winners and Folweni Old Ladies Football Club were the runners up. The Middle Age Stream, KwaMashu Women’s Soccer Stars Football Club became winners with Happy Start Football Club as runners up. The final programme held on Wednesday, 20th November 2019 was fortunate to have Mr. Mike Mthembu, Director of Organised Recreation from the Department of Sport and Recreation, Province of KwaZulu-Natal. His message was very inspiring and encouraging. The programme did get some support from the Department of Sport and Recreation eThekwini Region and eThekwini Municipality Sport and Recreation Development Department.

2/12/2019 3 Comments Prophet Sbu Mokoena well supportedAbout 4,000 congregants from various churches were present at the Curries Fountain Sports Development Centre sportsfield on Sunday 1st December 2019 to receive a sermon and blessings from Prophet Sbu Mokoena from Gauteng. The sermon and message was well received.
2/12/2019 0 Comments Down Syndrome Association KZN Buddy Walk held at the Curries Fountain Sports Development CentreThe Down Syndrome Association KZN held its Annual Buddy Walk on Sunday 17th November 2019. The walk started at the Curries Fountain Sports Development Centre sportsfield and after the 5 km ended at the sportsfield. Other novelty items including a display by the Emergency Services and Fire Department was part of the programme. All participants enjoyed a fun-filled day.
The Curries Fountain Sports Development Centre successfully completed its Schools Soccer Development Programme for 2019. The programme was implemented for 6 months, every Saturday morning between 08h00 to 10h00. The age group that participated in the programme was from 9 years to 13 years. The total number of participants that registered was 330 and the average attendance on Saturdays was 132. The focus of the programme was to teach skills and was managed by 7 coaches. The final programme was held on Saturday, 14th September 2019 and all participants were recognised by awarding medals and certificates.
