On Sunday 24 August 2014 the Chinmaya Mission of South Africa held its 3rd Chalisa at the Curries Fountain sportsfield. The event was held in two sessions and attended by over 3000 devotees. It consisted of the devotees chanting the Hanuman Chalisa over 5 00 000 times.
According to the organisers, the benefits of the chanting can improve the quality of life of a devotee and can also aid in healing the individual of sickness. Mala Govender, who attended the event described it as “a blessed prayerfilled event”. She says she will definitely be returning next year. This is the 3rd year that Chinmaya Mission of SA has held a successful Chanting with Shri Hanuman Havan at Curries Fountain.

On Sunday 3 August 2014, the Apostolic Church held a Pente Cost day at the Curries Fountain Sports
Development Centre. The Pente Cost day is significant as it marks the day the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles, and is also known as “The Birthday of the Church”. The day included a church service, followed by choral music to the 5000 people who were present. Many pastors addressed the public. The event was a resounding success. |
