The event was held in conjunction with trucking companies, fuel Industry, NBCRFLI, Unions, eThekwini Municipality’s Health Unit and other stakeholders. The Ethekwini Trucking Sector Wellness Forum was formed in 2009 and its main purpose is fighting the increase of HIV and AIDS in the trucking sector. The purpose of the Wellness Day was to promote wellness and healthy lifestyle amongst the trucking fraternity, involve truck drivers and their families in the fight against HIV and AIDS and provide a fun-filled day that encouraged community and family involvement. There were various stakeholders promoting healthy life style and wellness services, entertainment for the whole family and sporting events - ( soccer, netball, tug of war).
Mobile clinics offered HIV & AIDS Voluntary Counselling and Testing (HCT) services throughout the day. Also general health management services were offered free of charge, including eye tests and tests for diabetes and hypertension.
